My Broderie Tyrannosaurus cake by Chelsea Mason

Description

Well I started off with box mixes (chocolate =3), but I added pudding and some other ingredients that would make the cake sturdier and easier to carve. I stacked, carved, iced, and covered the body, feet, tail, and head separately. And then I started working on painting on the patchwork. I used blue gel food coloring. But there is one picture where there's purple and blue paint in the background, but honestly, that was for another completely noncake-related project. Promise. Then I made the T-rex's arms and the little boy out of fondant. I think he was my favorite part. There was one dowel in the middle of the body and two dowels in each arm, (along with some toothpicks) to hold the arms and boy up. I picked this design because it was the first Threadless Tee I'd ever gotten. And its one of my favorites too. I suppose it took about...three days-ish? And the fact that it took about four or five cakes to get it right, didn't seem to bother my sisters and parents who were more than happy to "help with clean-up."
