Runnin' Rhino cake by Carli Clark

Description

Poor little rhino! I just loved this design. It took me a few days to decide how I wanted to go about it and I almost chickened out several times..but in the end, I couldn't resist the rhino. The process took three days, mostly due to children and fondant angst.

The cake is a from-scratch standard yellow cake recipe, and the icing is a homemade vanila buttercream. I stacked two 1/4 sheet cakesand then cut the back and stacked and dowled it to make the wall, then covered it in blue fondant (this is where the angst came in. After I recoved from the shock of it not falling over, I made the unicorn poster from color flow. I havent had an excuse in forever to use colorflow and was excited about that! My toddler was fascionated with it as well and poked the unicorn while I was picture taking and totally demolished it, thus ending my final photo session of the cake at three pics. The treadmill and rhino were made from gumpaste.

All in all, great fun, and the kids in particular thank you all for the opportunity to make cake!!
