Mmmm...... Breakfast....
My friend suggested I make this cake, it being her favorite Threadless shirt. I have to say I find it very cute as well.
I started out with a basic white cake recipe and made enough for two full cakes. I made a basic two tiered cake and covered it in frosting and fondant which I colored blue. I hand painted all of the breakfast foods around the side and added more fondant for details so that it would 'pop' a little more.
I made the milk carton out of rice krispy. (It was my first time making and working with it) The cereal bowl gave me the most trouble and I had to redo it twice. I tried cake, rice krispy, and fondant, finally settling on part rice part fondant. I filled the bowl with rice krispy treat even though it is empty in the original design. I thought it looked too sad and lonely and that it might feel better if it was full :]
I had a lot of fun making this cake, and I think it came out nicely. I gave it to my friend and her family and was told that they enjoyed it very much. :]
