Mwahahaha!!
This is one of my favorite designs on threadless. I am not lucky enough to own it, but I have always admired it. I felt it would be a perfect cake to enter into the 2d category.
I made a basic chocolate cake and covered in in store bought icing this time. I then made some marbled fondant. I tried to go for an ivory/red/white mixture, but the red came out a bit more pink than I had hoped for. I liked how the colors went together though, so I decided not to color it any darker. Using jagged pices of fondant that I colored red, I made a base of 'flames' around the bottom to tidy it up a bit.
For the actual vampire face, I took white fondant and rolled it out flat, then cut out the shape of his face. I hand painted the fair and face using black food coloring and attached it to the ckae with a thin layer of icing.
I figured it would be a shame not to represent the awesome glowing and uv powers of the shirt in some way, so I had my dad help me rig up some LED lights for the eyes. I can figure out anodes and cathodes on my own, but I'm clueless when it comes to voltage, so he helped out and it became a father daughter bonding cake. :]
I'm very happy with the end result. I think it came out well.
