This shirt design is just so cute!
I waited until the heat and humidity subsided a little bit before attempting to make another cake. It has been pretty hot and sticky in Connecticut these days. I made a Mayan chocolate sheet cake (http://catherinescookings.blogspot.com/2010/05/mayan-chocolate-cupcakes-with-chocolate.html) and basically cut it up into pieces. The buildings are small pieces of cake wrapped in fondant. The dinosaur is a stack of cake cut and carved into the dino body shape, then covered in green fondant. I made the sponge, spray bottle, and the dinosaur arms out of gum paste. It took about 4 hours to put everything together, but I had also just discovered that Hulu has the entire first season of Arrested Development available and I watched a lot of episodes while making cake.
I'm glad I took photos the night I made the cake because by the time we ate it, the heat and humidity had melted everything a bit. The buildings looked like a city after an earthquake (or after a large dinosaur stomped through the area?) and the dinosaur had leaned over a little to rest his head on one of the buildings. It looked like he fell asleep cleaning!
