Anthill Trap cake by trisha patterson

Description

This cake took me a few hours. I frosted the cake with chocolate frosting. I used fondant to cover one side of the cake, and painted it with gel food coloring. On the other side, I pressed chopped up chocolate bits into the frosting to look like dirt. The anteater was cut out of fondant and painted, and I piped on the little ants. I gave the little sign a woodgrain look by kneading in some brown and black food color partway, and piped "Home" on it about 10 times and scraped it off over and over until I was happy with it.
It tasted pretty good too, a little too chocolaty for my taste, but dad liked it which was good since it doubled as a father's day cake. :)
