Description
I was looking through the long long list of threadless photos and Discography caught my eye. I really liked the concept of the design and thought it would look really great as a cake. I recently wanted to try a new cake flavor and decided why not make it into a threadcake. The cake is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It was so moist and delicious, the cake was gone in a manner of minutes. It took approximately 10 hours to make and decorate.
To begin I mixed together all of the ingredients and placed the batter in a round cake pan. After it was done baking and cooling, I cut a 1/4 wedge from one half of the cake. Next I filled the cake with cream cheese frosting, placed the top cut wedge of cake on top and coated the whole cake with buttercream frosting. Next I colored some fondant and rolled it out. Next I cut 1/2 inch squares out of the fondant. I cut out three different colors of squares. Next I created a pattern for the record core, rolled out some white fondant and cut out wedges the same size as the pattern. I then attached the record wedges to the cut out portion of the cake. Next I began the long process of applying all the 1/2 inch squares to the cake. After all the squares were applied I coated them with one layer of silver airbrush paint to achieve a shine similar to a real disco ball. Then after all that was done it was time to enjoy some cake!
I really enjoyed making this cake and I hope you enjoy it too!
