Description
The past few years I have made my dad a cake for Father's Day, so this year wasn't going to be any different. I wanted to make him a threadcake, so I scoured the designs to find the perfect one. I came across this design and decided that it was perfect. For the cake I made a tantalizing chocolate cake with chocolate filling. It was very delicious. The whole cake took about 8 hours to make.
To begin the cake I re-sized the design to fit an 8 inch square. Then I took a craft knife to cut out each element of the design to create patterns. Then I took each pattern and cut pieces of colored fondant. Then I layered each piece of fondant to replicate the tree pattern. Next I took some petal dust, added alcohol to create a paint to add color to the tree similar to the design. Next I baked, leveled, filled, frosted and covered the cake in fondant. Then I placed the finished tree onto the cake using buttercream frosting. Next I added the small leaves and acorn to finish the top of the cake. Lastly I added a leaf border to finish off the cake. The only thing left to do was eat the cake!
I hope you enjoy my entry!
