Description
I broke my shoulder at the start of the summer and haven't been able to participate as much as I would have liked in Threadcakes because of it (my mountain bike and I had a disagreement resulting in the head snapping of my humerus literally a few days before this year's contest opened). I'm still in a sling now, but I'm finally able to work with my hands again, and with the help of my husband, Tyler Kuhn, decided to get an entry (potentially two) in before the deadline.
We set out to make the most elaborate cupcake that we have ever made...and I can say pretty safely that we succeeded. We love the "Job" design, especially because it played to each of our strengths (I love to sculpt fondant and Tyler can sculpt cake in ways that amazes me). The added challenge was to do the piece on something as small scale as a cupcake (especially the light and dark highlights and facial expressions on the bat - I ended up spending a lot of quality time with toothpicks). We had a lot of fun putting the cupcake together and I'm so happy that I got to get an entry in despite the injury.
