The Beetles

This cake took two days. The first day I baked the cake and covered it with white vanilla icing. Then I stuck it in the fridge overnight to firm up. The next day I used black food colouring to paint the Abbey Road scene onto the cake surface. Then I started sculpting. Each of the beetles are sculpted from fondant and coloured with food colouring. I painted the detailing on the white and blue beetles using black food colouring in a similar process to the cake surface image. I watched the Mummy on a dvd while I sculpted the beetles - for inspiration for my little sculptures. The cake is going to be devoured tonight at a friend's party.
