Description
This is my second year entering the Threadcake competition. I enjoy challenging my skills as a hobby cake maker and have dreams of turning my passion into my career some day. I was going to a BBQ with children so decided on a more "family friendly" design (and being one of my favourite books, this one made me giggle).
I did a "tiger striped" cake using chocolate and vanilla mix, crumb coated with my Swiss meringue buttercream, and then covered with hand painted fondant.
The structure was one single .5" rigid pipe with a threaded flange securing it to the wooden cake board. Everything was sculpted cake with the ears, pie, paddle and floating can made of either fondant or gumpaste.
The cake took about 11 hours and was devoured by friends, and I was so happy with how he turned out. I even had to slice the "pie" into equal pieces for each of the kids. I enjoyed myself and look forward to creating more entries in the future.
Sweet Regards,
Lady Ambrosia
