Description
I chose "Bear Market" because it is my favorite Threadless design. Actually, I'm wearing the shirt as I type this.
I started out by making the shopping cart. Oh, precious little shopping cart... We had some serious ups and downs. I made each piece of the cart out of royal icing and then connected all the pieces using more royal icing. The wheels were made out of gumpaste and were attached using yet more royal icing. There were several cart mishaps, thanks to the fact that one of my housemates destroyed it on more than one occasion. I finally finished it though!
The bear was made out of gumpaste and then covered with various layers of thinned royal icing and gel food coloring diluted with vodka. I added layer after layer, until everything was juuuuuust right.
The cake was just a yummy homemade yellowish white cake with homemade buttercream icing. I covered it in fondant and placed in on a fondant-covered cakeboard (the only non-edible part, unless you want to eat the cardboard). All of the dots were made out of gumpaste and fondant.
This cake took two weeks to complete because of the cart mishaps, but once everything was fixed, it took just an afternoon to set up everything. It was yummy!
