Description
The moment I saw this shirt I had the uncontrollable urge to belt out the chorus from "You're the Best," Joe Esposito's classic hit from the Karate Kid. After a solid week of me torturing my boyfriend...
Leslie: Hey Joe...
Joe: What...
Leslie: (sung in the style of an 80's rock anthem) "You're the Best! Around! Nothing's gonna ever bring you down!"
I had to make the design into a cake. It was also the birthday of one of my good friend's husband, so it was like killing two birds with one cake.
CAKE DETAILS:
The cake and frosting are made from scratch, chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. I had to make three 6 inch rounds, 2 8 inch rounds and one 8 x 8 sheet cake to get this accomplished. All the fondant is dyed with gel food coloring (which took FOREVER). The letters for "BEST" and "YOU" have cake in them, and the rest of the fondant decorations were made over the course of a week. The baking and assembly took about a day. The fondant is glued onto the cake with royal icing, and I'm happy to say that the cake arrived at my friend's apartment with no transportation damage!
We even ate the cake with chop sticks to honor Mr. Miyagi! Enjoy the video!
