Self Portrait

This design was chosen by a friend and I loved it! Between the googly eyes, the dripping skin and the tiny markers, I was sold. All in all, it took about 8-10 hours to complete including baking time. The biggest challenge was to make the eye stand up properly but it wasn't anything a little royal couldn't make work. The cake is entirely edible, save for the eyes which are hardened balls of fondant attached to two floral wires covered in more fondant. Everything else is carved from cake.

This became an honorary birthday cake for another friend so it got a nice public cutting at the Silver Ballroom. It was vanilla cake with vanilla and almond filling.
