Description
Well to start off i picked this design because i love the artwork and knew i wanted to try and recreate it in cake form.
I started by making two sponges, vanilla and cinnamon flavoured. I stacked them ontop of each other, and crumb coated with buttercream. After refridgerating over night, it was time to start the decoration process.
I covered the cake in fondant and then carefully mapped out where the key pieces needed to go and then proceeded to make them out of fondant. Im new to cake making and so i havent got alot of materials to help model fondant, so i got creative and searched for things to make impressions on the fondant, such as the feathers for the bird. I hand molded and cut all the pieces, and then painted them with food dye to give them a more realistic look.
All in all it took about four days to complete this cake, so i was quite surprised when at the end of it, it still tasted good :)
