Do You Want The Moon

I was very excited to do Threadcakes again this year! There are so many designs that I want to do and the time is just flying by. I thought it would be so cute to do "Do You Want the Moon" using my round cake pan. I wanted the moon to look big so I used a 6 in. square pan for the bottom tier. For the bottom cake I used a white cake mix and made it with apple sauce and water instead of eggs to make it a little healthier. The moon was made of chocolate cake with less oil so it would be more dense and not fall apart on itself. The only non-edable structure was a plastic tube to help support the moon. I lightly sketched the figures on the fondant and then painted them with a mix of food color and vodka. Everyone really enjoyed the cake and was really impressed with the healthy apple sauce white cake. I thought it turned out pretty cute and I am excited to enter more cakes this year.
