Description
For my son's 8th birthday I adapted the Star Sabers design for his birthday cake.
The dark side (death star) was a chocolate butter cake. The side of the force was vanilla. Being an 8 year old boy he was excited about the idea of black frosting. Unappetizing to most, perhaps, but appropriate for representing outer space. You don't want to know how much paste coloring it took to get that color.
The star figures are modeled out of fondant and painted with food coloring, with lollipop sticks holding them in place.
And that frosting? The best part, as far as the kids were concerned, was the way it dyed their entire mouths black.
