Happy Little Trees are Happy

I had run an art supply store for over 10 years and the hottest thing we ever sold was the Bob Ross paint sets! Every holiday we couldn't keep enough of his videos and sets in stock. It became the bane of our existence as we approached every gift giving occasion!! When I came across this image I knew I had to do it!! I decided to use all modeling chocolate on my piece this way I could really work his face. I started out with my kids favorite chocolate cake with chocolate frosting filling. I covered the board and the 10"round cake with green colored modeling chocolate. I then sculpted his face to get the base design. Then I broke out my Christmas tree cookie cutters and starting cutting out lots of trees! After everything was attached and laid out I used cocoa butter paints to add all the accents and faces to the trees and Bob Ross! I then used wafer paper colored with green petal dust and used cocoa butter again for the lettering. Attached to tooth picks with a little bit of corn syrup and then attached to the cake! I had fun making Bob and it brought back some fun times of working in the art store!
