Untitled cake by Brandy Wilson

Description

It is currently over 110 degrees where I'm at, so when I decided to make another cake this morning, my family groaned that the oven will be going again (the house can only get down to 85 in the afternoon, so I was nice and made the cake extra early in the morning while it was still a cool 80 degrees!). I decided to go with lemon cake for one layer and white cake for another, I wanted something that would be really light to make up for the heat.

I stacked the two layers and carved the pencil shape out, it's my second time carving (first time was my piggy bank heist entry) and I have to say that it gets easier with practice lol. I then layered the whole thing with butter cream, which was the hardest part because the cake wanted to fall apart and the butter cream was especially sticky since it was so warm.

I then colored fondant yellow, red/brown and brown and covered everything. I don't like the way black colors fondant, so I decided it would be best to paint the lines and other black details in black food coloring so that it would be as striking as possible.

The whole process only took me 3 hours, by far the quickest cake I've made for this contest. Hope you enjoy...and the lemon cake was DELICIOUS! It comes in a close second with my favorite flavor, double chocolate chip!

Thanks for looking!!
