A hug is my favorite adhesive.

Ah...Threadcake # 9.. This one started off as a disaster. I decided to make a glue bottle cake for the "a hug is my favorite adhesive" shirt, so I threw a 9 x 13 white cake in the oven. And when I turned it out of the pan, it broke into several large chunks.
And then I said some not very nice words.

Loudly.

But, I didn't want to waste the cake or go to the store and buy another mix, so I decided to fix this one..I used the icing I frosted the cake with to "glue" the pieces back together (sickeningly ironic, I know..) then covered the entire cake in icing. I had never glued a whole cake back together before but surprisingly you couldn't even tell it had ever broken. Even when you sliced into it.
I also baked two round 9" pans, and used one of these to carve the nozzle/lid of the glue bottle.

I based the colors and shape for the cake on an Elmer's glue bottle, but tweaked it so it wouldn't be an exact replica. The white cake (glue colored!!)is covered in white fondant with blue and orange fondant details.

And I never ate paste as a kid (or at least, if I did..I don't remember it. Maybe that's a side effect?) but I'm sure my cake tasted much better than that.
